San Joaquin Section

Welcome to San Joaquin Section

Greetings CASCWA San Joaquin Section Members,

It is my honor and privilege to introduce myself as the new CASCWA San Joaquin Section President. I would like to thank all current members for helping make 2016 a great success and would like to welcome all new members. Together, we will strive to make 2017 an epic year in helping make a difference in the lives of students!

San Joaquin Section sponsors two workshop events each year. Our two-day Fall Workshop will be held on Thursday, August 31st through Friday, September 1st at the Petersen Event Center in Modesto. Our annual winter workshop will be held sometime during the month of December, but venue plans are still being generated. Please watch for Save the Date information for registration and program information in the coming months.

San Joaquin Section also plans and organizes an annual scholarship luncheon to recognize students who, through hard work and support, made the commitment and succeeded in improving their character. For those students who are awarded the Anthony Brucia Success Award, it represents a belief in them, recognition of their achievements, and commitment to their future. Their success is CASCWA’s award! The annual scholarship luncheon has been scheduled for Friday, May 19, 2017 at Pardinis located in Fresno. Please watch for Save the Date information for registration information in the coming months.

Anthony Brucia Success Awards – Scholarship

 Award Application 2016-17

Cover letter to Counselor 16-17

Cover letter to Student 16-17

In the 1990’s, the San Joaquin Section scholarship program was launched under the leadership of past CASCWA President, Joe Brucia. His 19 year old son, Anthony had just passed away. There were many community donations given toward a fund in his name. Knowing that most donated funds soon run out, Joe and his wife, Shirley, offered to transfer the funds to CASCWA. To accept the donation, CASCWA had to match and perpetuate the fund. CASCWA accepted and soon made the award an annual event that now reaches students attending high schools throughout Central California. As of May 2016, just over $100,000 has been provided to the winners of this award.
