Bay Section

President Elect’s Message

Bay Section is standing strong as we support our neighboring cities and countries as they go through this challenging moment of wildfires and natural disasters. With families, friends and colleagues in mind, our priority remains the safety and well-being of our students. The fall season has begun with altering current events that have impacted us all, in one way, or another. Through these tough times we value life and remain focused on our purpose of improving the educational life of students.
The Bay Section’s Executive Board Members are working collaboratively to prepare for the CASCWA Fall Workshop based on current situations that are also impacting our students and families. The Workshop presentations will include topics involving “Schools, Students and Speech in a Time of Political and Social Tensions” and “DACA – Do You Know Your Rights?” we encourage you to join us on Wednesday, November 29th from 9:15 AM – 3:00 PM in the Alameda County Office of Education Boardroom as we gain insight on these very important issues.
In addition to our CASCWA Fall Workshop preparation, I am eager to share that Bay Section will be hosting the 2019 State Conference. This is a great venue for networking and meeting new CASCWA members as we enhance our practice of life-long learners. By then, I will be your Bay Section President. I have been a CASCWA member for the past seven years. My affiliation with CASCWA has proven to be of great value as I utilize concepts and new information in my work place. As an Elementary Principal, I have the opportunity to work closely with parents and students to support, encourage and most of all, educate for a better future. With that said, I will continue to work for the best interest and well-being of our students. See you all in the 2018 State Conference!
Appreciatively,
Evelyn Ocasio
