CASCWA DELTA SIERRA PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Lisa Sanchez

Greetings,

Wow! It’s hard to believe we are more than half way through the school year.

I am thrilled to announce that Delta-Sierra will be bringing an amazing crew to Shasta County Office of Ed. to present “Improving Student Attendance From A Multi-Tiered and Cross Discipline Perspective” featuring David Kopperud, California Department of Education and Dr. Dennis Wiechmann, Supervisor of Child Welfare & Attendance – Sanger U.S.D. Topics to be discussed will be: a multi-tiered approach to SARB, strategies to reduce Chronic Absenteeism and the use of data to support your LCAP goals. I would like to take this opportunity to cordially invite you to our spring event in Redding, CA. to be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 9-4 p.m.

The conference will be held at the Shasta County Office of Education – Professional Development Center located at Shasta Hall-2985 Innsbruck Dr. Redding, CA 96003. The cost of this event is only $15.00 and includes a light breakfast and lunch. You can register at http://cascwa.org/ under the “Professional Learning” tab. Hope to see you there!

Once again, our Scholarship Committee is eagerly awaiting the collection and readings of our 2018 scholarship applications. In late May, we will award the deserving students at our Richard C. Davis Scholarship reception. We are excited to honor our scholarship recipients and their families for a job well done.

I myself am enthusiastically preparing to attend the 82nd Annual CASCWA State Conference – “Student Success by Design” this May in Fresno, CA. I have found that it is important in my professional career to attend yearly to stay on top of the most current information available to us. The opportunities to network with colleagues from around the state has increased my knowledge of CWA and has been very helpful to me. I look forward to seeing current CASCWA members again and meeting future CASCWA members.

As always, as your current Delta-Sierra President, I am committed to do my best to represent CASCWA and continue to do the best that I can for our next generation. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming event in Redding.
Warmest regards,

Lisa Sanchez

CASCWA Delta Sierra President
